Looking to build a wider upper torso, Lat Pull-Downs can help you reach that goal. If you cannot yet do a substantial number of Pull-Ups (or if a Pull-Up bar is unavailable), Lat Pull-Downs are a good alternative to challenge many of the same muscle.
The lat pull down is a great exercise to target your lats, but it also works a variety of other muscles that work together to extend and adduct your arms. It provides an alternative to the pull up when you're not yet strong enough to perform one without assistance. It's also a good adjunct to the pull up.
